I keep hearing all this about the Indians not giving potential trade partners a negotiating window to try to sign CC long term.  What does this really mean?  Is it possible for the Indians to trade him, get nice prospects in return, then have a chance to resign him at the end of the season?  That doesn't sound very fair to the rest of the league, but is that how it could work?  If so, I'm not complaining!

There is just no possible way CC can be resigned. He is just too expensive, he wants at the least 15mill, the tribes player salary is like 80mill. CC will be greatly missed and it just seems unfair if the tribe resigned him for less just b/c we greedly want him, he should get his full worth he deserves it.

I haven't heard this but if we're not giving teams a negotiating window with CC that means we believe CC is dead set on going to free agency and giving teams a window of time to try to sign CC long term would only be a trade deterrent.  If we agree to terms of players and then the teams want a week to negotiate a contract and they can't reach it the deal either falls through or it changes based the other teams inability to sign CC.

I support Shapiro for doing this.  If you want CC you take him as is and we agree on players.  No contingencies.
