With CC Sabathia trade rumors swirling a lot of teams have interest the left handed ace but only a few have the goods to get it done and as of today it appears as the Brewers might be the front runners. Of course the Indians have not decided to put CC on the market yet but we the Indians in last place and if CC is looking for a Johan like contract the Indians will surely look to get some good players for him. So lets take a look at some of the prospects in the Brewers farm system.

First... the crown jewel of the system

Matt Laporta RF-1B 1/08/1985

AA Stats... .286 19 homeruns 63 RBI 2 SB 42 BB .399 OBP .576 SLUG

The best power hitter in their system and possibly the best in all of the minor leagues. He was the 7th overall pick in last years draft after a great senior season at Florida (Buckeye fans might not like that). He might however be untouchable... with Prince Fielder unhappy with the Brewers they will probably want to hold on to a talent like him.

Mat Gamel 3B 7/26/1985

AA Stats .... .384 15 homeruns 73 RBI 5 SB .446 OBP .643 SUG

He is obviously a great hitter and looks to be developing some good power. He has a compact stroke and good strike zone judgment. One of the downsides of him is that he makes a lot of errors at third and does strikeout quite a bit.

Alcides Escobar SS 12/16/1986

AA Stats.... .330 7 homers 52 RBI 22 SB .359 OBP .448 SLUG

A good fielding and good hitting SS with decent speed and size. He is the best defensive infielder in the Brewers system. He has good range and a good arm but does make his fair share of errors.

Cole Gillespie OF 06/20/1984

AA Stats.... .277 10 homeruns 52 RBI 9 SB .380 OBP .498 SLUG

Cole is a toolsy player with good pop but not great power possibly 20 homerun power can hit for average and can run pretty well. He just needs a little more sharpening.

Darren Ford 10/01/1985

A Stats.... .237 2 homeruns 23 RBI 40 SB .319 OBP .314 SLUG

He can run really really well... hitting not much yet but he could get better and sometimes wares down late in the season.

Scouting Report: http://sportsbubbler.com/DisplayTopic.aspx?TopicID=691

Jeremy Jeffress 09/21/1987

A Stats.... 3-3 4.34 ERA 65 K's and 18 BB in 47.2 innings of work

He has a great arm... he has been clocked over 100 MPH but keeps it a little lower to keep it under control. He was suspended for 50 games for using a banned substance so there maybe character issues.

I changed the name of my username b/c I'm afraid it was jinxing the real Jeremy Sowers so I'm trying this out for a while and see if his luck can improve.

We need some bats.  Looks like Mil has some that we could use.
