I like Garko, he is a solid player but I don't know he is apart of the Indians future.  seems to me he is a guy who can hit .280 to .290 and hit in the low 20s for HRs which is nice but how does he fit?  Hafner is going to be the DH until his contract and Garko could very well be passed by prospects like Jordan Brown and Beau Mills.  plus I think you could get the same numbers from Aubrey but with better defense so if you get any offer worth taking I would do it.

I don't get why people think Garko is bad at defense. He has made 11 errors in his two years as a starter. That is the same as Derek Lee's first two years as a starter. Garko is getting better and better at 1st base. For a guy his size he covers 1st very well. I think his numbers on defense and offense will get better. Aubrey is a great guy but VERY injury prone when he went back down to the Bisons he was injured soon after. Garko is a young strong reliable guy I don't think the Indians could do much better. Casey Blake is just getting older now and the tribe has more younger people who can take his position in the future.

I am not saying they have to trade him by any means but he is going to get passed by Jordan Brown soon and Beau Mills not long after.

My concern about letting go of Garko is what if Hafner's shoulder situation doesn't get better and he's a stiff for the rest of his career.  We will need some kind of power at 1st.  Aubrey isn't a bad player but he doesn't have near the power that Garko has.

Brown and Mills are still at least a year away.

I'm not against trading Garko but I think we'd need to get something really good in return.

I'd much rather trade Blake.

Actually Jordan is probably only a couple weeks away.... I would have called him up a week ago... he is the most professional hitter in the system.... he's been hot lately so and our lineup has been lacking a good lefty (Besides Grady)...

As for trading Garko hmm I kind of like the idea of it.... I mean Gark is one of my favorite players but he is a liability defensively and offensively he can be pretty streaky... his power is average... and if a team does offer something good you have to listen.

I changed the name of my username b/c I'm afraid it was jinxing the real Jeremy Sowers so I'm trying this out for a while and see if his luck can improve.
